How long have you been performing?
Since the first time I saw "The Wizard of Oz."

What’s your favorite song to perform?
Right now, "All Night," because... well, if you come to a show you'll find out.

What was your most embarrassing moment on stage?

Describe your first gig.
My high school had this thing called "Beatnik" (which was basically
just an open mic night that took itself really seriously), and in 10th
grade my friend Rachel and I performed "Puff the Magic Dragon" except
we would stop in the middle of verses and speculate as to the exact
meaning of the lyrics (i.e. "rach, do you think this song is about
smoking pot?"). In retrospect, it was probably a great piece of
performance art.

Who is your dream artist to perform with?
Yoko Ono.

Do you have any hobbies?
I'm really into making cured salmon.

Who are some of your favorite artists to listen to?
Always: Anais Mitchell, Nina Simone, that record that Robert Plant and
Alison Krauss made together, Cab Calloway, St. Vincent, and my uncle,
Sid Whelan. Recently: Jeff Buckley, Lhasa de Sela, The Tallis
Scholars, Andrew Sheron, and Rachel Brotman.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
On a helicopter playing hammer dulcimer.

What producer would you wish to work with? And why?

So so so many. Most interesting I think were the guards at the
