Winterpills

Winterpills may be one of the most exciting acts to emerge from Northampton, Massachusetts in recent years, adding another chapter to the ever-expanding world of ethereal indie-pop. They play haunting, delicate, dynamic, room-hushingly beautiful music with aching melodies and acid lyrics. Their 2005 self-titled debut drew praise from all corners of the critical firmament, with words like “beautiful,” “exquisite” and “heartrending” repeating over and over. On their third and most recent album, Central Chambers, Winterpills maintains their signature chamber-indie ambience while exploring new grounds sonically and lyrically. Critical praise for the band continues: “Gracefully obscure lyrics and artfully dreamy vocals curl over lush acoustic-electronic layers and catchy pop structures: Think Psychedelic Furs meet Magnetic Fields and Elliott Smith while mulling late-period Beatles in Radiohead’s studio.
