Luthea is a multi-cultured & bilingual indie-folk singer/songwriter. Spending her childhood years in Canada her Spanish parents resettled the family in Spain and she currently is based in New York.
Luthea is emerging in the indie scene in Europe after having done several European tours including Spain,Portugal, Germany and the UK. Her shows have been considered lively and fun. Her extremely catchy and original songs have been praised by European specialized press as well as respected musicians as Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin and Lou Reed.
In 2009 German fans eager to see Luthea live after discovering her music through MySpace organized a tour by contacting venues themselves. After the dates were set, Audi Germany and Shark Energy Drink sponsored her national tour. With just her acoustic guitar, Luthea filled the 13 venues she played: Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Bochum, Kassel and Trier among others.
Luthea has released three albums. The first two CDs “Out Of Without” (2002) and “Sunbeam Surrounded By Winter” (2007) were recorded and produced in the USA by GRAMMY award-winning producer Malcolm Burn. Her third CD “Kick In The Head” released in Europe (2010) with a happier and more transparent sound, is receiving critical acclaim and increasing exposure with Spotify listens, iTunes downloads and hard copy sales across Europe.
“Kick In The Head” was recorded and produced in Barcelona by Valentí Adell and mixed in the USA by Chris Badami. It was released in Spain at the end of 2010 by independent label Femme Sutil. It is scheduled to come out in France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland in September 2011 with the independent German label Revolver and in the USA in October 2011.
Luthea presented her new CD by touring all the FNACs in Spain plus venues and theaters in both Spain and Germany in November and December 2010 selling out a number of shows.
Luthea lives in New York City when she's not touring or promoting in Europe and she is a well-known fixture in the downtown club scene, playing in many hot spots around the city. She's recently been made an Ovation Guitar, Kala Ukulele and Sonor endorsee both in the USA and worldwide.
