Funky and fierce, the Laura Thomas Band is a New York group with a sound like no one else in the industry. The LTB combines the power of rock and funk with probing lyrics and emotional songwritng. Textured by a fiery violin and a multi-textured guitar, the band is led by Lauras powerhouse vocals. Alabama native Laura Thomas sings with Ani Difranco's tell-it-like-it-is defiance, Alanis Morissette's sheer, clear power, the sultriness of Norah Jones. The result is an audio-shock of emotional truth. The Village Voice recently praised Laura for her "thick-skinned song-poems in jazzoid rhythms." The Washington Post said that "Her voice is capable of tracing melodies as sinuous as the Rock Creek Parkway, and she has a soft spot for writing tender, compassionate or introspective ballads that help set her apart from the rant'n'roll crowd." Over the past 3 years, the Laura Thomas Band has taken the stage across the country, from San Francisco to New York, packing to the hilt such prestigious venues as the Knitting Factory, Mercury Lounge, and Joes Pub. The Band has also captivated students at Yale University, Columbia University, and Middlebury College, among others. In 2002 Laura co-produced her first album, "On My Sleeve," followed in 2004 by her second CD, "Slow." Her biting, crafty lyrics, massive voice, and and passionate, proficient band make for an emotionally charged show.
