Guitarists Jim Campilongo and Adam Levy have recently brought their focus back to duo work, featuring a repertoire that includes songs by the Beatles, Jimmy Bryant, and Charlie Parker. With deep roots in blues and jazz, Levy imbues his honey-toned improvisations with palpable soul and swagger (as heard on recordings by Tracy Chapman, Norah Jones, and Amos Lee); Campilongo ( as heard on Little Willies, Cake, Burning Spear, Martha Wainwright) is a fervent melodicist who will go to extremes to wring poignant cries and cascading phrases from his Campilongo Signature Telecaster. Where these guitarists’ styles overlap, sparks fly freely.
