Graham Wilkinson & the Underground Township

In the last few years a new sound has emerged from the South Austin music scene. Unable to be tied down to any one genre, Graham Wilkinson & the Underground Township bring "everything you hear in Texas" to the stage, and it's all in one package.

After listening to their songs or witnessing one of their ever changing, "never the same" shows, it is easy to hear and feel the soulful, spiritual, and political influence the two Bobs, Dylan and Marley, have had on Graham's songwriting. Oddly enough, this roots, folk/reggae fourpiece has watched their audiences change from friend's house parties and sixth street dive bars to reknowned listening rooms such as the Cactus Cafe' and the Saxon Pub in their homebase, Austin, TX.

It should also be noted that the only reason Graham got his first solo acoustic gig at Austin's the Cactus Cafe' is because one day at his routine, sunday shift, dayjob, Graham met legendary singer songwriter Alejandro Escovedo. The two became friends on a personal level and all the while Alejandro became a "mentor and teacher" to Graham. Alejandro eventually asked Graham to open at the CD release party for his stringed quintet's "Room of Songs" and Al's most recent album "The Boxing Mirror" produced my John Cale.

Graham & the Township have also shared the stage with others like Hayes Carll and Regina Spektor and have been touring all over the US as a quintet, including towns all over the South, Midwest and East Coast. All is well and it's safe to say ... there is only one way for these guys to go from here.

"Graham's a great singer/songwriter. His songs are deep from the heart. His music on stage comes across as very honest, true and real. His unique voice and style make for an enjoyable live show." ~Steve Augello, RCA Records
