The Gene Jack Russell Quartet

Gene Jack Russell has been composing since the age of 13, in a wide variety of styles, from Rock, to Punk, to Jazz. His most recent project was a musical comedy entitled "Neurosis: The Musical", which highlighted these diverse influences...

Being primarily raised around Big Band/Swing, he has always had a natural ear for the style, and is naturally turning his focus onto this classic genre. His rich musical background, brings a fresh interpretation, one that has been missing in this often karaoke-like-copied genre.

Backing up Gene, is a group of young, talented, and seasoned LA musicians. Like Gene, Ashley Stagg is a graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music. He currently works for Capitol Records as an engineer/A&R, and has won several jazz piano competitions over the years. Dominic Thiroux, is one of LAs best session musicians for both bass and voice. His resume is extensive, and has recorded tracks for several movies, including "Armaggedon". He, along with Ashley, recorded and engineered the groups' demo. Keith Krey is a former actor, and a current drummer in many diverse projects, including actor Jeremy Jordan's music project.

The Gene Jack Russell Quartet has been compared to the rhythm section of a Big Band, and they would like to expand their role to eventually be just that.
