Elliott Brood

Since their beginnings with the EP, Tin Type, home of the cult hit, “Oh, Alberta!”, to their Juno-nominated, full length albums Ambassador and Mountain Meadows, Elliott BROOD have earned the praise of connoisseurs and critics alike. They’ve won over legions of fans with their raw and energetic live shows and their atmospheric, richly crafted records, making a name for themselves worldwide. They’ve carried their tune through seven cross Canada marathons, including the headlining spot on the Exclaim! Magazine sponsored Wood, Wires & Whiskey tour and opening shows for Wilco, Blue Rodeo, Corb Lund and The Sadies. They have completed five European tours, playing Festivals throughout Europe, Great Britain and Scandinavia, including opening spots in Spain with The Black Crowes and in Paris with Broken Social Scene. The BROOD also made their debut in Australia with the release of Ambassador on ABC Records in the spring of 2008.
In 2006, Ambassador earned The BROOD a Juno nomination for best Roots/Traditional album and the Galaxy Rising Star Award for Best New Artist, landing them on Best of Lists from The Globe & Mail to CBC Radio 3, and a four-star review from British music mag UNCUT. Ambassador kept them on the college radio charts in Canada for over 17 weeks.
In June, 2008 Elliott BROOD released Mountain Meadows. If your memory doesn’t stretch back to June 2008 (let alone Utah 1857), Mountain Meadows lasted 21 weeks in top 50 college radio, peaking nationally at number 3 (Earshot) and number 1 (CBC R3-30). The album captured its share of year-end accolades, earning the band a second Juno nomination for Roots/Traditional Album of the Year and one for CD Artwork/design, also snagging 1 spot on Exclaim’s Wood, Wires and Whisky Reader's Choice award. They graced the Exclaim! magazine cover in July, 2008, and both Uncut and Q magazine rewarded Mountain Meadows generous 4-star reviews in the UK. Scoring a more recent goal, their ukelele driven “The Valley Town” was featured on Hockey Night in Canada’s Stanley Cup Playoffs intro. Mountain Meadows has also been added to the 2009 Polaris Prize Long List for best Canadian Album.
The BROOD are gearing up for their first release in the USA, with Mountain Meadows unleashing south of the border in October, 2009 through Ryko/ADA. A national USA tour gets underway in this fall in support of the release. Mountain Meadows also gets alphabetical with an upcoming release on ABC Records in Australia. This is the band’s second Aussie release. This band has been storming stages across Canada, the US and Europe, and the chuckwagon keeps rolling this summer. Catch Elliott BROOD at folk, roots and blues festivals across the country.
