Twenty-three year old guitarist Dida Pelled has already established herself as one of the most in demand young musicians in Israel and the US. Aside from leading her own trio, Dida has worked with various jazz combos as well as some of Israel’s most popular rock and pop acts, performing at legendary venues such as the Givataim Theater, Shablul Jazz Club, Milestone Jazz Club and more.
After graduating from the prestigious Jazz department of the Thelma Yellin High School in Tel Aviv, Dida was chosen by the Israeli Army to serve as an outstanding musician. She spent two years traveling the country playing in high profile events where she functioned as the guitarist and vocalist of the group.
After fulfilling her duties with the Israeli Army, Dida was offered full scholarships from the Berkley College of Music in Boston and New School University in New York City where she is studying these days. Dida is a recipient of the prestigious AICF scholarship. Dida is has furthered her career outside of the classroom with shows at some of New York’s most prestigious music venues including Birdland, Smalls Jazz Club, Fat Cat Jazz Club, Dizzy's at Lincoln Center, Rockwood Music Hall, Arturo’s and other notable music landmarks. She has played with some of the world's most accomplished musicians including Roy Hargrove, Gregory Hutchinson, Jordi Rossy, Joe Cohn, The Thelma Yellin Big Band, Amos Hoffman, Shay Zelman, Ofer Ganor, The Diva Jazz Orchestra, Gilad Hekselman, Anat Cohen, Neal Minor, Jason Brown and many others.
In just her first year in NYC, Dida has recorded two albums. 'Plays and Sings'- A jazz standards recording on the Italian Label, Red Records. Produced by Fabio Morgera and includes notable musicians; Tal Ronen- Bass, Gregory Hutchinson- Drums and Roy Hargrove as special guest. The CD 'Dida Plays and Sings' was chosen as one of the best releases of 2011 by All About Jazz.
Dida also recorded with The Diva Jazz Orchestra playing Johnny Mandel's music. The album was recorded live at Dizzy's Jazz club at Lincoln Center.
Dida is currently working with her band on original music, and going to record her second album soon. In the meanwhile she continues to perform regularly around NYC. And also touring some,including venues such as Padova Jazz Festival in Italy and Tel Aviv Jazz festival.
