The Bill Murray Experience

The Bill Murray Experience is a New York City based ensemble specializing in early American roots and jazz music from the late 1800’s to the 1930’s. The group features Jessy Carolina on Vocals and washboard, Jay Sanford on double bass, Horatio Baltz on guitar and slide whistle, and Blind Boy Paxton on piano and banjo.

The Bill Murray Experience is affiliated with New York City's MTA Arts program Music Under New York, and have represented Joe's Pub for the city's Make Music New York arts program and event. The band was featured on NPR's nationally airing program "All Things Considered" for their audition with Music Under New York.

The Bill Murray Experience was briefly featured on The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in January 2010 playing their arrangement of the show's iconic theme song. Footage of the band playing the song in Washington Square Park was included in the opening montage along with Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, ZZ Top, The Roots, as well as other artists.

Since April 2009, the Bill Murray Experience has released 3 full length demos as well as recorded 2 live sessions - one at the Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook Brooklyn, and another at The Mercury Lounge, in Manhattan.

The Bill Murray Experience currently holds a semi-regular residency at both Jules Jazz Bistro and The Greenwich Village Bistro in Greenwich Village, New York City as well as The Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook, Brooklyn where The BME regularly plays The Roots & Ruckus showcase.
