Angus & Julia Stone

Raised on the Northern beaches of Sydney, Angus and Julia Stone were born into a family for which music is an integral part of life. Encouraged to use their voices and the many musical instruments available in their family home, each had set out independently: Julia performing songs that reflected her experiences in love, and Angus using music to express his view of society. Frequently offering musical support for each other’s performances, their separate solo acts soon merged together. As a duo, they recorded a 2006 EP, Chocolates and Cigarettes, that caught attention and air-time on Australia’s alternative radio stations. The buzz Down-under propelled Angus and Julia to perform in London, headlining acts before growing UK audiences. Brittan’s Fly Magazine says, “Angus and Julia don’t so much seize the room as gently envelope it in a warm shawled embrace,” and the Daily Telegraph says, “they are going to be huge.” The duo joins From the Living Room to the Loft following their album debut, A Book like This.
